Firefighter Skye

One of the guys my mom works with (Mike) is also a Kaysville City fireman--and a really cool guy! He let us take Skye over to the fire station on Wednesday night to see the firetrucks. She also got a Jr. Firefighter hat. Here she is in one of the trucks. Besides seeing them, Mike also took us on a ride in one of the huge trucks! Lance got to sit up front.
Here's Mike.
My mom, Skye, and I sat in the back. Skye was a bit nervous at first and insisted on sitting on my lap. Before long, though, she was smiling and happy and wanted her own seat! It was so much fun and I'm glad Mike let us come along with him. I would have loved to have seen more and get more pictures, but his pager went off with a real emergency the second we got back to the fire station so he and another fireman had to cruise out in an ambulence.
Afterwards, I got these pictures of some cactus that grow in a yard across the street from the station. You really can grow cactus in Utah! Wahoo! We are going to get some prickly pear...
and some cholla to grow...if only we can find a nursery that sells them!

hey, look at those cactus. xeroscaping is great. In fact it is good for fire fighters too. They get more water in the tank if everyone xeroscapes. Skye is still having a very entertaining life.
