Desert Lake

Yesterday afternoon we took Skye to the beach/lake at Millsite State Park. We had soooo much fun! Skye loves playing in the sand and the mud. She aslo loves the water and was pretty bold about going out into it. We wanted to paddle out into the lake with a raft our friend let us borrow, but when we got there we discovered it had a hole so we couldn't use it. But we had tons of fun anyway, just hanging out on the beach and playing in the nice cool water. Skye had fun playing with her beach ball.
Hanging out on the beach. And look at the view! Look at those beautiful, golden cliffs in the background. That's one of the reasons why we love to go there.

Digging into the mud!

Skye can stand up all on her own now. She is pretty good at balancing and wasn't afraid of the water at all.
Here she is standing all on her own.

She led me out deeper into the water.
We sure had a fun day in the sun. I thought Skye looked so cute wrapped up in the beach towel in her daddy's arms.
Eventually, it was time for us to go, but we had a lot of fun!

Skye Walker

Skye took her first solo steps on Father's Day. The sad part was that Lance missed it. Poor Daddy was all alone in Orangeville on Father's Day while his baby girl took her first steps. I've been trying to record her walking since then, but it has proved quite difficult because she decided she didn't want to walk anymore. I think she just didn't have the confidence. She would do it sometimes, but whenever we tried to film it, she would refuse--of course! She seems to be getting more confident now, though, so we finally got her walking. We really wanted Daddy to see how good she is doing!

The Continuing Adventures of Skye

Yes, of course, I'm adding more pictures of Skye. Long story, but our car is being repainted so Skye and I have been stuck, or more like vacationing, at my parents for 2 1/2 weeks. We keep thinking that we are going to go home, but haven't been able to yet. She loves it here, though, and has a lot of fun playing with Cookie and Grandpa and Uncle Trav. Here she is with Daddy before he had to go back to Orangeville to work. It seems like it was such a long time ago. Luckily, we will finally get to see him again this week when we go back home.Baby Skye Flies!

One day, Uncle Trav blew bubbles for Skye.
Here's Travis trying to get Skye to blow the bubbles.
Just another cute picture of my baby!
Skye adores her grandpa. She had fun playing with the phone while sitting on Grandpa's lap.

The Intricate Web

Just for fun, I thought I'd post a picture of this web I took. This spider made a web in between the barbeque grill and the riding lawn mower at my parents. It survived the sprinklers getting it wet and a few summer breezes blowing through it. It's actually pretty cool. Unfortunately, my brother has to mow the lawns tomorrow and I don't think it will survive being torn apart. Maybe it can rebuild? If so, it will just be destroyed the next time the lawn mower gets used. Too bad.

Poor Kitty

So my mom has this tom cat who likes to get in fights. Apparently he got into a fight with another cat and got bitten on his side. It got infected really bad and in order to see just how bad it was, the vet had to shave him. I know it probably looks kind of gross, but I just had to share the funny pictures of his shaved side. It was so funny, yet so sad to see this big tom cat shaven. Poor kitty!

Birthday and Anniversary

We have had quite an adventurous and fun week! Skye turned one on Sunday and Lance and I had our third anniversary on Monday. Since my whole family was together we decided to celebrate my brother's birthday and Father's Day along with Skye's birthday on Sunday. We had a lot of fun with everything we did! Here's Skye in her birthday dress. Doesn't she look so cute?!
She loved playing with her balloons. They made her so happy!

Here she is looking at all of her presents. She got so spoiled!
She had to peek through the pile of presents to see what the rest of us were doing.

Here's her first present, but she was more interested in playing with the bow on top.
She finally got the hang of tearing back the paper.
Adorable! She got this cute hat from her Aunt Millie. It looks so cute!
Opening presents with Grandma.

Daddy is showing her how to play the drums she got from him.
She learned pretty quickly!
Here's my brother, Nathan, and his wife, Camille. They came to celebrate.
It seemed like there would never be an end to opening all of her presents.
She had fun playing with this truck she got from my mom and dad.
Here's her birthday cupcake!
But by the time she got to it, she was almost too tired to care. I thought she might fall asleep right there!
But she finally dove in!

On Monday, we took Skye to the gardens at Thanksgiving Point. Here's a picture of our little family that started out with me and Lance three years ago from this day.

It was a big day for Skye. She really liked it there...
Especially when she could get out of her stroller and push it around!
Her favorite thing may have been the fish, though.
She really liked looking at them and would put her hand or foot through the rails as if she wanted to grab or pet one!
The pond was full of beautiful water lillies. After spending the night to ourselves, Lance and I had a fun time hiking in Adams Canyon (above Layton) Tuesday morning. It was really beautiful and peaceful. The only bad thing were the dozens of silk worms that were hanging from the trees. We finally turned back because there were so many of them. They were getting all over us! But other than that, we had a great time!
Here's my sexy husband!
On Wednesday, we went to Lance's mom's house to visit Lance's sister and her kids. We don't get to see them very often so it was great to spend some time with them. Here's Skye with my sister-in-law, Mindy!
She had a lot of fun playing with her cousins.
Here's my crazy, cute niece, Audrey!
And here's Orin with an ice cream cone! What a fun week we had!
