More Museum Fun

I forgot about these pictures I took at the Children's Museum a couple of weeks ago. I know I've already put tons from there on, but now that Skye is a little older, there are some new things she likes to do while there. Like making pizza in the kitchen.

Or weighing split peas in the grocery store.
Getting lost in the noodle forest.

Of course there are old favorites, still, like riding the polar bear.
Going on the slide.
And this!

They also had this hay bail trail for the fall that Skye had lots of fun running around in. Phoenix really does have a lot of great things.

Making Cookies

Skye helped me make cookies this morning. She helped pour in the ingredients and stir the cookie dough. And of course...
she helped test it out, too!

Skye Loves the Zoo

Lance had Wednesday off for Veteran's Day so we headed to the zoo. They just opened an exhibit with two Komodo dragons. This is just a statue of one. And here's the real thing. It was pretty impressive--pretty big!
And yet this peacock was just fine sitting on the fence of the dragon's cage.
The Phoenix Zoo is so big that we discover new things every time we go. This time, we spent less time looking at animals and more time playing. They have an actual kid-size Little People Discovery Farm. Here's Skye looking at Farmer Jed...
climbing Farmer Jed...
on top of Farmer Jed.
She has the toy of this farmhouse so she was really, really excited to see all of her familiar toys her own size.

Lance also discovered all these cool statues that Skye had fun playing in and on.

Daddy got in on the action, too, with a little gator wrestling!
This statue of an African elephant and her baby are life-size. I wouldn't want to be in the way of one out in the wild, but Skye loved seeing this one.

I tried getting her to roar on the lion, but she was just sick of getting her picture taken.
We ended the excursion on the carousel where Skye was able to muster another smile, of course. She LOVES riding the carousel!

AMEN!!!!

Does anyone else find it extremely hypocritcal and contradicting that Obama is telling the nation that they can be the laziest most irresponsible person in the world (or anyone who thinks they are too good to get a job), but still be entitled to healthcare, and then he goes and tells school kids to be personally responsible? I know some of you out there are thinking, "Well, what about the people who are responsible, but just lost their jobs because of the horrible economy?" And I say, "Are you too stupid or naive to think that that's the only way there is? Maybe there is a better way." Yep, that's right. I say there is a better way. Like maybe we should crack down better on illegal immigration and not allow them to take all of those cheap-paying, hard labor jobs which would force employers to raise their pay wage, possibly force them to give benefits for those jobs, thus inducing all those Americans who think they are too good for those kind of jobs to get those jobs after all and be personally responsible for themselves and they'd have health insurrance to boot without the government interfering which is against the proper role of government as was set up by those God-inspired men of old! And who knows, maybe there are other better AMERICAN CAPITALIST ideas that would work, too.

This is What Happened to Our Pumpkins

This is how our wonderful pumpkins looked only a day after carving them. I guess that's what happens when you live in a hot place. My friend told me she put theirs in the fridge each night. If we spend another Halloween in Phoenix, I'm going to take her advice and do the same thing.

Happy Halloween!

We started our fun Halloween day off with a concert by the Phoenix symphony. All three of us really enjoyed it! Some of the music played included The Sorcerer's Apprentice, Ghost Busters, and music from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. And there were guest conducters such as a skeleton, a ghost (whom the Ghost Busters themselves came to take care of), Hagrid, and Batman. Skye was so good the whole time. She got this puppy balloon which quickly came undone, but was turned into a baton that she used to conduct the symphony from our blacony seats! I think it was the funnest part of the day! (And I'm proud to have already taken my two-year-old to the symphony. Talk about culture!)
That night, we went to the stake center for yet some more trick-or-treating and games.

Skye did the cake walk, but didn't like the cupcake she got from it.
Just being cute...
Another game...
And some pumpkin bowling.
We ended the night with the final bit of trick-or-treating to a few houses in the neighborhood. Phew, what a day, but definitely a good one!

Fun at Fry's

Phoenix is a great place for Halloween fun. First we went to our old ward's Halloween party where Skye had tons of fun trick-or-treating around the church and dancing to music in the cultural hall. And here is our beautiful fairy! On Thursday afternoon, we headed over to Fry's (an Arizona grocery store) for some more trick-or-treating.
She had lots of fun running around the store and getting more goodies!

She wore this candy bracelet for a little while. Once she discovered it tasted yummy, though, the fairy turned puppy and got right to eating it!
