One day, Skye put a leash on a stuffed animal and fastened it to the dresser drawer handle. I looked at it and found that she had tied a knot. Since then, many stuffed animals have been secured to posts, handles, and such by knots. I watched her tie one today. Here is a picture of it.

Our Christmas
We had a fun Christmas Eve this year with my family. We had everyone over to our house for dinner. Unfortunately, all my pictures turned out blurry--except for these pictures of Skye, and she's who really counts, anyway, right?! We all opened presents from each other and Skye opened one from Daddy. She got some more Dr. Seuss books which she has read every single day since then--and sometimes twice a day!
Another fun part of the night was talking to my cousin who's on a mission in Toronto. She just got transferred to Niagra Falls. It was great to hear how much she has learned and grown since going on her mission. She's been out for almost a year now!

No, Skye did not wake up early Christmas morning. She doesn't know how to do that yet, thankfully! But she was excited to get into her stocking and presents!
Santa left her a mommy giraffe for the baby giraffe she already had. She was soooo happy about that! Skye has never been a doll person, despite my efforts to get her to be one. But she liked playing with this doll at the store, so I thought I'd give it a try. She "eats" and talks which I think is why Skye likes her. She has had a lot of fun playing with Daisy (what she named her) the last few days.
She also got some more watercolors from Santa and was excited to start a new masterpiece!
She's so talented, she can paint with both hands at once!
What a coincidence that Skye got Lance a new easel! It came with this canvas of Van Gogh's "Sunflowers" stenciled in. Lance got right to work painting it.
My parents and brother came by later with some more presents. I got this beautiful necklace from my sister that just happened to match what I was already wearing!
Skye loved these puzzles my parents got for her.
Lance had a hard time staying away from his painting and spent most of the day with it! He had a little fun pretending to be Van Gogh, too!

Skye's Recital
Last week, Skye had a recital with her Sunshine Generation Group. Doesn't she look cute?!
While they were supposed to be lining up, this boy kept talking to Skye. It was so cute! Apparently she's already the charmer!!!

I love all her expressions!
She did a lot better this time than she did at the Festival of the Trees. Maybe it was because her teacher separated her and Colton!
She did good saying her part again. Sometime soon, I'll get some video of her performing on here.
A shot of the whole group.

Seeing the Lights
Monday night we went to see the lights at Temple Square. It wasn't quite like seeing the lights at the Mesa Temple last year where we didn't even need jackets, but it was warmer than it has been the last few nights so it wasn't too bad! We loved all of the orange and red lights they had this year. Is that a ghost? It took awhile for us to figure out what setting to use on our camera to get good pictures. We also started using a little tripod we keep in the camera case to steady the camera. But our first few pictures turned out similar to this!
Skye loved these snowflake lights.

She asked me to take a picture of her by one!
Here Comes Santa Claus
Last Saturday was our ward Christmas party. The food was only okay, but at least we had some fun! I love their expressions! Lance was trying to hold Skye up while putting his own face in the cutout as well! Pretty tricky!
Skye was excited to see Santa Claus and get a candy cane! Anytime anyone asks her what she wants for Christmas, she says, "Presents." Makes it pretty easy for Santa get her just what she wants!

Festival of the Trees
Last Friday, Skye had her first performance with her Sunshine Generation group at the Festival of the Trees. We went a little early so we could see some of the trees first. The first one we saw was this Toy Story tree. Skye loved it, of course! One of the most notable displays were these blue trees bent into the shape of waves with Santa surfing beneath them. I thought they were really cool! They had a news reporter doing a segment at it when we go to it.
Skye also liked the Pooh Bear tree, especially this stuffed animal of him with the bees on his nose!

Skye loves penguins! And doesn't she look cute in her costume?!
When she saw this, she shouted out, "Cherub!" That's my sister's pug dog whom she hasn't even seen since she was a baby, but has heard stories about and seen pictures of.
The dog tree was another favorite.
And then it was time to perform. Skye did really well on her first song of Frosty the Snowman. She sang good and did the actions pretty good.
Her santa hat was a little too big, though! I think you can see she's starting to lose focus here.
But she did awesome saying her part! She had to memorize and say, "Deck the halls and lets be jolly. String the mistletoe and holly." She said it so perfectly and clearly into the microphone. I was so proud of her!
