Spring Again

A few weeks ago, it looked like this outside:
It was fun building snowmen with Skye, but I didn't really like seeing the snow.

Luckily, it now looks like this outside:
I feel lucky because I got to enjoy spring and flowers in Phoenix and now I get it again here!

Look at that amazing tree! So beautiful!

Already Adventuring

Lance and I took a hike at Antelope Island a few weeks ago. I must say I love that place and the Great Salt Lake and am glad to be back near it Here's Lance scoping out some new climbing there.
We saw this egg just lying in the grass.

We think this is a grouse. We saw a couple of them on the way back.

So Cute!

I just wanted to share some cute pictures of Skye. She had fun playing on Papa's lawn mower after church yesterday and was all smiles for the camera! She insisted I take a picture of her driving with her feet.

This one is my favorite. She's such a cutie!

We're a Rock Loving Family!

Our day at the dinosaur park was filled with more than just Easter eggs. If you pay a little extra, you can go into this "mine" to search for beautiful, polished rocks. You know how much Skye loves rocks, so you can imagine what fun this was for her!
Here we are taking a look at all the pretty rocks she got.
They also have a pretty impressive rock, mineral, and gem display upstairs in the museum that Lance was pretty fascinated with. I love this picture he took. I guess we are just a rock loving family!

Getting Eggs

Here's a video of the chaos (see post below). I finally noticed that poor Skye could barely even see because her hat was almost totally covering her eyes. But she was still intent on getting as many eggs as she could!

Our Easter

Remember the beautiful weather in Phoenix? Skye wore her pretty easter dress the last Sunday we were there. Notice how differently we are dressed now? Despite the cold, we took Skye to the dinosaur park in Ogden for an Easter egg hunt last Saturday. She still doesn't grasp the concept of the Easter Bunny, but she was all smiles every time we saw him!
We tried having fun outside while we waited, but it was just too dang cold and miserable so we actually spent most of our time inside the museum.
This is to show you how the Easter egg hunt went. The eggs weren't hidden, there were just hundreds of them spread all over the ground.
We had to wait until they said go and then it was the CRAZIEST thing you have ever seen!
Just imagine a hundred kids set loose on these eggs. I'm not joking when I say that within 15 seconds, they were all gone!
Luckily, Lance noticed this other area that no one had gotten to yet, but so did everyone else. We ran over and it was the same scene as before. One second, the ground is covered in eggs, the next, they've completely vanished. If it had been a warm day, it would have been worth it. But waiting in the miserable, freezing cold for a minute of egg hunting was probably not worth it.
The eggs the Easter Bunny left on Sunday morning were hidden inside the warm house!
Here's Skye inspecting her Easter basket.
And here she is showing me the cute little bunny she got.
And here she is getting a nummy out of one of her eggs. Let's hope next Easter is a warmer one!

Back to Blogging

Last Friday, we took a trip to the aquarium in Sandy. It was kind of small and ridiculously crowded, but we still managed to have some fun. Skye can always have fun when animals are involved.
I didn't take any pictures of the animals there--only pictures of Skye! I think she looks so cute in this one!

The penguin exhibit was REALLY cool. They were swimming, diving, splashing, and playing like crazy! It was a lot of fun to watch. When we were leaving, Skye was happy to see Bruce floating (or swimming) in the air above us, but then asked, "Where's Chum?" So cute!

Goodbye Phoenix

The last few weeks have been pretty crazy. Most of it was spent packing and moving. And somewhere in the midst of all that I had a birthday. It seemed like it was a bit overshadowed by what else was going on (including my having surgery--don't worry, nothing even remotely major), but it ended up being a pretty good day. We celebrated with our friends, Mike and Tia, because Mike and I share the same birthday--I mean the EXACT same birthday. We even ended up ordering the same meal at the restaurant we ate at that night. Pretty funny. They have been great friends. Tia was my visiting teacher in the first ward we were in when we moved to Phoenix and she is one of the nicest people you could ever meet. We feel so blessed to have had them in our lives. After dinner, we went over to their new home and had the most delicious chocolate cheesecake dessert that Tia made. We had a lot of fun, it was a great birthday and we'll miss them a lot! Here we are with them and their son, Asa, and daughter, Annabelle.

Yay for Blogging Again!

One of the things I'll miss the most about Phoenix is the Desert Botanical Gardens. There's nothing even remotely like it here in Utah and it's an amazing and beautiful place. We were able to go one last time before moving.

One of the best things about going to the DBG in the spring is that every time you go, there is something new blooming!
These pink flowers were soooooo colorful and stunning.

I'm glad I got to see a few cactus blooming before we left. That is definitely a sight I will miss seeing.
